Ramona Kessler sees in the city of Görlitz a self-contained, multifaceted and complex entity. She has met the challenge of recreating this wholeness, the multiplicity and the complexity by relating these sentiments in her work. Creatures that seem to be associated with one another at times produce peculiar, whimsical effects as they appear to be more or less interacting and occasionally even intertwined with one another where sometimes they appear interconnected to the extent of forming one entirety. Ramona Kessler’s work demands a certain amount of flexibility from her viewers. A change of the viewing angle results in completely altered visual content. The artist uses this effect to illustrate the transformations the city of Görlitz has undergone, vicissitudes that can also be perceived only as viewers change their perspectives and their visual approach.
